By submitting your photo and contact information, you are agreeing to the privacy and engagement policies outlined in the Q&A below.
PHOTO RELEASE AGREEMENT, updated January 20, 2026
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: June 1, 2026
Answers to questions about your Photograph
Q: What are you going to do with my photograph?
A: I will use it as a reference to create a cartoon-type female child character that resembles the person in your photo. The characters will be included in a “hidden objects” picture in the back of the book “Every Evelyn Everywhere,” and once the book is published, you will have the opportunity to try to find this character in the hidden picture. Once the artwork is created and published, I will delete the photo you submitted.
Q: Will you use every photograph that you receive, or will some be rejected?
A: It is likely that some of the photos will be rejected, especially in cases where the photos don’t align to these guidelines. Regardless, I reserve the right to decide which photographs I will use without the need to explain rationale for rejecting a photograph.
Q: What are the guidelines for the photographs?
A: I am looking for photos of girls age ten and younger, preferably full-body pictures of them doing some kind of wholesome activity such as catching a ball, performing gymnastics, playing a game, etc.
Q: Does it have to be a girl, or can it be a boy?
A: The gender is not important, but please remember that the characters I draw will all resemble girls. I don’t mind if you submit a photo of a boy, but keep in mind that the character I draw will resemble a girl regardless of the gender of the person in the photograph.
Q: Does race matter?
A: I am hoping for a wide variety of races to be represented in this illustration, however I will use photos regardless of race. I will not reject any submission based upon race.
Q: Does the child in the photo need to actually be named “Evelyn?”
A: Yes, this is the intent: that children named “Evelyn” are represented in the book. However, we are using the honor system, and I will not be asking for proof to validate names.
Q: Can I submit a picture of a pet?
A: I am honestly not sure if I will use photos of pets, but the idea is intriguing. If you have a pet named Evelyn, please submit it and I will decide.
Q: Can I submit a photo of an adult?
A: I will not use any photos of people who appear to be teens or adults. But you can submit a photo of when that person was a child. I don’t mind if you submit an old photo.
Q: Are you going to share my photograph with anyone?
A: No. I have no intention of sharing your photograph with anyone, and I know of no law that would require such a thing. I would only share if a legal situation forced me to do so.
Answers to questions about the Character, also known as “artwork”
Q: Who is actually creating the art? Is this AI?
A: No, this is not AI. I am a real person, and I will be creating these characters one at a time. I estimate I will invest roughly two hours per character.
Q: How will I know which character was made from my photo?
A: I will assign a number to the character, and when I send you a copy of the book, I will communicate to you which number corresponds to your photo.
Q: What are you going to do with the character that you create that resembles my photograph besides including it in the book “Every Evelyn Everywhere?”
A: I will treat my characters as my own artwork. This means that it could potentially be used in portfolios, websites, advertising, and any number of other ways. There is also the chance that I may never use it again. It is hard to know.
Q: If you decide to use the artwork from my photograph in the book “Every Evelyn Everywhere,” will you let me know?
A: Yes, but only if you give me your email address. I am not responsible for contacting you if I don’t have a correct email address for you.
Q: Assuming I have given you my email address, if you use the artwork in other types of media besides “Every Evelyn Everywhere,” will you always reach out to me and let me know?
A: No, that won’t always be possible. Outside of the initial project of “Every Evelyn Everywhere,” I don’t have any concrete plans for any other use. That said, I might let you know, but I might not. It depends upon the situation. But in no case will I deliberately hide anything from you.
Answers to questions about PRIVACY
Q: Are you going to share the full name of me or the person in the photograph when you publish the artwork that corresponds to it?
A: No.
Q: Will people be able to link the child in the photograph to your artwork?
A: No. There will be no traceable link between the name of the character and any real person or any submitted photo. Each character will be given the name of “Evelyn.” And each “Evelyn” will be given a number. Considering that all of the characters will share the name “Evelyn,” it will be virtually impossible to link them by name. Additionally, I will not publish the corresponding photos (I will be deleting them from my files). In this case, I will provide no ability to associate a photo with a character. The only link between the art and you is this: I will keep your name, email address, and the number associated with your Evelyn in my files for future communication.
Q: Are you going to share or publish my name, my child’s name, or our contact information anywhere?
A: No. There are no plans to share any personal information about you. If an unforeseen legal situation arises that encourages or requires me to share your personal information, I will do my best to consult with you first.
Q: Will you sell my personal information?
A: No.
Q: Will you keep my personal information after the book is published?
A: Yes, I will keep your name, email address, and the number associated with your Evelyn in my files for about ten years unless you ask me not to.
Answers to questions about Compensation
Q: Do I need to pay you a fee to include my photograph in your project?
A: No. The art I create is not yours, and therefore you owe me nothing.
Q: If your book is a big hit, will you pay me royalties?
A: No. You will not be paid any royalties under this agreement.
Q: What if the character you created from my photograph becomes a huge success? In this case would I get any compensation?
A: No. As noted above, the characters that I create are my own artwork and any royalties that come from these characters are paid to me.
Q: Are you going to compensate me for the use of my photograph?
A: No. Rather than compensation, I will send you a thank you gift: one free copy of the published paperback book that contains the artwork inspired by your photograph: Every Evelyn Everywhere. No substitutions.
Q: If you reject my photograph, do I still get a free book?
A: No, sorry.
ANSWERS TO OTHER QUESTIONS
Q: If the character inspired by my photo becomes a big hit, are you going to publish my original photograph?
A: No. I won’t have access to the photographs once the book is published because I will delete them. I do this because the photograph is yours, and I do not have rights to do anything with it once the artwork is created and published.
Q: In this case, can I share and/or publish my photograph after your book comes out?
A: Yes, you can do whatever you want to do with your photograph.
Q: Can I share your artwork if I find it on the Internet?
A: Yes, anything already published on the Internet can be linked to and shared as-is. Just remember that the characters will be copyrighted and cannot be duplicated and sold by anyone without the author’s permission.
Q: When will this book be published?
A: Projected publish date is Tuesday, October 6, 2026. However, this is subject to change.
